Public School 404
While our kids’ schools may be out for summer, school is definitely in at the new gastropub Public School 404. Among the microscopes, old trophies and jars of No. 2 pencils you’ll find a syllabus of Comfort Food 101 classics from hand- tossed pizzas and burgers to more advanced courses in tastiness like ahi tuna poke, roasted poblano with quinoa and fiery calamari. The libations are also prerequisite coursework; craft cocktails, wine and a large selection of beers beckons thirsty scholars with their happy hour program aptly called “Recess” Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that includes discounted small plates like parmesan truffle fries and meatballs al forno all priced 10 bucks or less
PS 404 makes for a natural destination before downtown activities and despite its scholarly theme, after some of their incredible food, a couple of games of cornhole and giant Jenga, it’s likely you’ll declare this your new alma mater
