The Parent’s Club and volunteer event committee are pleased to announce the 15th annual Woodward Academy Ball, which will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at the new Georgia Aquarium. This year’s theme, “Enchanted Atlantis,” salutes the magical ballroom backdrop that the Aquarium will provide for parents, faculty and alumni. “We are so proud to be partnered with the Aquarium and to have such an exclusive venue for our Ball,” said Anne Boone, event co-chair.

The black-tie optional evening will include a sumptuous seated dinner prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering and dancing to a live band. “Perhaps the most exciting element of this year’s Ball will be the visual entertainment. The ballroom is surrounded by breathtaking, floor-to-ceiling tanks with some of the world’s most exotic fish. It’s absolutely incredible,” added Betts Fisher, event co-chair.

Benefits from the Woodward Ball are donated to the school’s Parent’s Club for various school-related projects. This year, Chris Freer, Upper School Dean of Student Life, founded a campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity of South Fulton. Proceeds from this year’s Ball will help fund the chapter’s goal of building a “Woodward Academy” house. Students and parents will work together to complete the construction.

Since opening in 1900 (as Georgia Military Academy), Woodward Academy has embraced a philosophy of education that asserts the importance and uniqueness of the individual student.
