Canadian-born
bridal designer Romona Keveza creates gowns inspired by some of
the most celebrated stars of the 20th century and their unforgettable
weddings. Kevezas dresses, known for their clean, simple,
almost architecturally precise lines, have been lauded as modern,
yet timeless.
The Romona Keveza collection burst into the spotlight five years
ago when the designer was asked to contribute gowns to be photographed
for Legendary Brides (HarperCollins, 2000) authored by etiquette
expert Letitia Baldridge, who served as Jacqueline Kennedys
White House social secretary. In her sensationally illustrated book,
Baldridge chronicled the weddings of famous brides of the last century.
Romona creates her elegant bridal collections taking inspiration
from the past and incorporating exquisite designs for todays
fashionable bride, praises Monica Hickey, who has presided
over some of the most prestigious bridal salons and boutiques in
the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Spain, Japan and the U.K.
Kevezas inspiration stems largely from her fascination with
the fashion tastes of some of the worlds most memorable brides,
including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Grace of Monaco,
Princess Diana of Wales, Princesses Caroline and Stephanie of Monaco
and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
I look to these incredible women of style noting that the
designs they wore are as striking today as they were on their wedding
day, she says.
Her current bridal collection is inspired by the glamour of classic
Hollywood and those extraordinary goddesses of the silver screen:
Marlene Dietrich, Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor
and Audrey Hepburn. The allure of luxury fabrics is combined with
stunning artistry of design.
Based in New York, Keveza continues to expand her vision with the
Legends Collection, an array of moderately priced bridal separates
that can be coordinated in a variety of ways by each bride to create
a unique look and legend.
